About Hope
I always found English literature extremely challenging in lower secondary school but after achieving a 9 in my GCSE exams went on to study it at A-level and achieve 98% across my papers. I believe understanding how to be creative with the texts in your essays and allow your own ideas to flow even whilst following all the marking objectives makes for some of the best essays. I therefore hope to encourage a genuine interest and curiosity in the texts for my students.

I am a student at the University of Cambridge who achieved an A* in English Literature A-level offering support for OCR GCSE English Literature. I can provide tutoring on how to write well-structured comparative and analytical essays as well as more detailed support on the texts I studied myself. These are The Merchant of Venice, An Inspector Calls and Jekyll and Hyde. Guided by the areas the student is finding most challenging, we will carry out practice writing exercises. I will encourage an active focus from the student on how past work can be improved, so that they have a clear idea of how to move forward to improve the quality of their written material, in order to answer exam essay questions both precisely and in a fluent manner. I will however try to keep lessons fun and engaging as I believe everything sticks far better when it’s interesting to you! Lessons will be one hour long.
