About Indiana

I am a currently a first-year undergraduate student at the University of Canterbury aspiring towards a Bachelor of Communications degree, majoring in Journalism and minoring in Chinese Mandarin.

An interesting fact about me is that I am also a classical violinist! I have been playing the violin for over 11 years and am adeptly involved in the music scene - even taking on a performance music course at the University of Canterbury and the associate concertmaster position of the Christchurch Youth Orchestra.

About the lesson

Hi there!
My name is Indiana, and I am currently a full-time student at the University of Canterbury studying towards a Bachelor of Communications degree with a major in Journalism and a minor in Chinese Mandarin.

I am a very considerate and empathetic person and will take this into account when tutoring any student to give them their own customisable methodology that meets their needs and requirements - whether this is just improving their skills, preparation for an exam like NCEA, or help with an assignment.

I have NCEA Level 3 Excellence Endorsements in English, Classical Studies and Media Studies (as well as NCEA Level 2 and Level 1 with Excellence Endorsements) and an overall NCEA Excellence qualification Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3.

At my high school (Burnside High School), I also received the Turner Trophy for English in 2023, came 1st place in the school in English (2023), and received excellence awards in English in both 2021 and 2022.

In classical studies I have experience preparing for the scholarship classics exam. I have received excellence awards in classical studies from my school in both 2021 and 2023.

In media studies, I received an excellence award from my school (2nd place) in 2023 and an NZQA scholarship media studies award (meaning that I am in the top 2% in the subject in the country).

For my excellent academic results I have additionally received the UC Hiranga Scholarship for academic excellence and the Noeline Clark Scholarship for a student from Burnside High School.

I love writing and would be a suitable tutor for all ages!

Lesson time is flexible, cost is approximately $35/hr.

I can help high school students, offer NCEA tutoring, and also help younger primary and intermediate age students. If you are learning English I can also help with conversational English practice as well.
