About Amelia

I am a University of Oxford graduate with extensive experience in the education sector and a passion for helping people achieve their potential.

I came to Oxford from a state school, the first student to be admitted from my school to Oxbridge in 5 years. It was a daunting experience to navigate alone, without help from teachers or mentors, but ultimately inspired me to develop my own skills and expertise in the education sector so I can pass this knowledge on to the next generation of students.

After my degree I was elected as Vice-President of Welfare and Equal Opportunities at Oxford Student Union, representing 24,000 fellow students. In this role I worked directly with students, university staff and other sector leaders, and figure headed numerous campaigns focusing on issues from student mental health, to disability support during examinations.

I continued my work in the education sector after my tenure at Oxford Student Union, taking on a full time position as a Student Success Advisor at King's College London. In this role, I guide Master's students from diverse international backgrounds through their postgraduate studies, through in-depth mentoring from the point of acceptance to the College to graduation. I have continued to work on independent projects as an education consultant in the start-up field, and undertaken both paid and voluntary work as a tutor and student mentor.

I pride myself on my friendliness, approachability and pragmatism. I support those I work with passion, kindness and understanding of the unique challenges all individuals face, because I have experienced many of these challenges myself. I bring this into my work as a tutor, working with rigor, candour and accuracy, whilst also maintaining my belief in the importance of acting as a ‘critical friend’.

I have experience working with young people (ages 11 to 18), current undergraduate students, and postgraduate students.
