About Gabrielle
I am a published university professor of art history/anthropology with 19 years teaching experience, and have also taught ESL and English composition. I have taught thousands of students of all levels from primary school, to high school, adult school and college undergrad and grad school and have also won Fulbright, Ford Foundation and Guggenheim grants for research. I believe in teaching interesting and often provocative concepts that can be applied to any period of art/literature, so students can approach subjects objectively and be able to educate themselves after the course is completed. I use my years of research in Asia and Africa and original fieldwork material of slides and videos to enhance my lectures and make the material as anecdotal and relevant to the students' own lives as possible. I give students positive reinforcement, constructive criticism and a fair evaluation of their performance throughout the course.

I have a BA in philosophy and art history from Bryn Mawr College and the Sorbonne, an MA in art history from Yale University, an MFA in fine arts and film production from Boston University and a PhD thesis in art history and anthropology completed at UCLA and to be filed at the University of Oslo, Norway, in 2018-9. I also have an ESL credential and have taught ESL and English in S. Korea for a year and for several years in adult schools in the USA.
