About Ayokay
My name is Ayo, I am a 3rd year university student studying Neuroscience at the University of Alberta. I was born in the US and have lived in North America my whole life. English is my first language. I have a passion for reading and writing, especially research papers but this has allowed me to break down English into simpler and more accessible terms. This has given me a greater understanding of the language.
I also have experience as an intern editing and spell-checking English papers written by non-English speakers. As a result, I am aware of common mistakes and I am able to provide helpful corrections. Learning a new language can be frustrating I know but my teaching style is simple and straightforward.
I am excited to see your success and growth in my classes. I look forward to meeting you!

I will be using the English Made Easy Volume 2 Textbook Revised Edition. Textbook pdf will be provided.
- Basic English User
- Use of pictures to help facilitate word association and meaning
- I will teach you how to use the English language in social contexts
- Demonstrate how the language works and can be used to meet your needs
- Less focus on grammatical labels and rules at the beginner level
- Each unit will take 2 weeks to cover depending on the number of classes a week.
- There will be weekly assignments and biweekly quizzes
- Flashcards will be provided for study
