I study international relations and global history at Maastricht University. My main interests are modern diplomacy between countries and their historical background. I have taught history at all levels in high school. I also have experience with examtraining and homework counseling.

During my lessons I have noticed that it is often difficult for students to understand the meaning or use of history. If you are not such a fan ofhistory itself it's not an issue, besides fun facts you can also learn a lots of important skills. Skills such as; critical thinking, reading comprehension, putting things into perspective, estimating motives and figuring out links or causality are important skills in history. My lessons are based not so much on learning facts but on sharpening these skills. Reading sources, drawing up diagrams or summaries, having discussions, etc. These are teaching methods that help you to get familiar not only with the material but also to understand it. The lessons are intended for all levels from the first year to the higher school level.
