About Amy
I am a fourth year cognitive science student at York University! I take classes in computer science, psychology, mathematics, and philosophy. I have been a member of the Dean's Circle of Scholarly Students for 3 years and am also a peer mentor with the YU Explore program. I was previously a tutor with the university and helped students learn Java (ITEC1620). I realized that one-on-one tutoring would be more helpful to students and would like to provide support wherever I can.

I try to facilitate learning by guiding students as opposed to giving them the answers. I create worksheets that allow students to practice problem solving and allow them to apply multiple things that they have learned. A typical lesson will start with a discussion about what the student is learning, what they feel they are best at, what they would like to improve on, and then we will work on strategies to improve. I approach teaching from different angles in hopes to find the one method that works best for each individual student. My lessons are for high school students, or first and second year university students.
