About Micah
I am a second year PhD (DPhil) student in Medieval and Modern Languages at the University of Oxford. Prior to this I was awarded a Master of Studies in English (650-1550) from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Related Literature (First Class Honours) from the University of York.
Although I specialise in medieval literature, I have a wide-ranging knowledge of literature of all periods. I am dedicated to inclusivity and accessibility and making things work for all different types of learners! It is really important to me that engaging with literature is interesting as well as informative.
Outside of academia I am a published poet and lyricist. I am also an adventure racer and recently competed in the NORCHA adventure race in Portugal.

I am currently a second year PhD student at the University of Oxford researching late medieval literature. Prior to my PhD, I received a Master of Studies in English (650-1550) (Merit) from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Related Literature (First Class Honours) from the University of York.
I have previously tutored students in personal statement writing and essay writing. I have also helped to guide them through the university admissions process, particularly for Oxbridge. Several students who I have assisted with personal statement writing have gone on to gain places at top universities including Oxford and Cambridge. I have completed a Preparation for Teaching and Learning course at the University of Oxford and am currently on the teaching and mentoring scheme in Oxford's English Faculty.
I can provide 1-1.5 hour online lessons in English Literature, essay writing, and personal statement writing. My teaching focuses on improving confidence, supporting the student in improving their writing style and methods of analysis, and helping the student to understand and engage with literature on a deeper level. I also am happy to advise on exam technique and help the student find the best approach to working through and succeeding in their written examinations. I am able to tutor students from GCSE to A Level.
