About Zyla
My teaching approach is centered around flexibility, problem-solving, cultural sensitivity, and accountability, ensuring that each lesson is tailored to meet the unique needs of the student. I believe in creating a learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring new ideas. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced player, I adapt my lessons to your personal goals, making sure you progress at a pace that suits you.
Problem-solving is key in my approach. I encourage students to overcome challenges creatively, whether it's tackling a tricky chord progression or understanding complex music theory concepts. By breaking down problems into manageable steps, I help students gain confidence in their abilities.
Cultural sensitivity is another important aspect of my teaching. I understand that music is a global language, and I respect diverse musical traditions and influences. This allows me to incorporate a wide range of styles, from jazz to rock to classical, and relate them to students' individual cultural backgrounds.

With over 6 years of experience teaching guitar to college students, I specialize in helping students of all skill levels unlock their musical potential. My teaching approach is both structured and flexible, adapting to each student's unique learning style. I focus on building a strong foundation in technique, theory, and musicality, ensuring that students not only learn how to play but also understand the "why" behind their playing.
I use a blend of traditional and innovative methods to keep lessons engaging. This includes incorporating improvisation, ear training, and composition into lessons, encouraging creativity and self-expression. I also believe in setting achievable goals and creating a positive, motivating environment where students feel comfortable experimenting with new ideas.
Whether you're looking to master jazz, blues, or contemporary styles, my goal is to help you become a confident, versatile guitarist. I tailor each lesson to address your specific needs and interests, providing personalized feedback and support every step of the way.
