About Yamuna

Welcome to My Dance Classes!
Hello! I’m Yamuna, an experienced and passionate dance instructor dedicated to sharing the art of dance with students of all ages and skill levels. With over 5,000 performances to my credit, I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to every lesson. As a gold winner in a national-level dance competition in Johor for the Ceracap Inai traditional Malay dance, I am committed to excellence and skill development in my students.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, which equips me with the understanding and interpersonal skills necessary to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment. My teaching philosophy is centered around personalized instruction, ensuring that each student receives tailored guidance to help them reach their full potential.

As the leader of two dance groups, Hema Dancers in Pahang and Ordinary Dancers at Universiti Malaya, I actively engage in organizing performances and workshops that enhance not only my skills but also the skills of my students. My goal is to inspire confidence, foster creativity, and instill a love for dance in everyone I teach.

About the lesson

In my dance classes, I utilize a blend of traditional and contemporary teaching techniques to create an engaging learning environment. I focus on:

Personalized Instruction: I assess each student’s skill level and learning style, tailoring my lessons to meet their individual needs and goals.
Technique and Fundamentals: I emphasize mastering fundamental techniques across Malay, Chinese, and Indian dance styles, ensuring a strong foundation for all students.
Creative Expression: I encourage students to express their creativity through improvisation and choreography, helping them to develop their unique dance style.
Positive Reinforcement: I provide constructive feedback and celebrate progress, fostering a supportive atmosphere that motivates students to excel.
Typical Length of a Lesson: Each lesson typically lasts for 60 minutes, allowing ample time for warm-up, technique practice, choreography, and cool-down. This duration helps maintain focus and engagement while providing thorough instruction.

Qualifications and Experience: I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling and have extensive experience in the performing arts, having danced on over 5,000 stages. I am also a gold winner in a national-level dance competition in Johor for the Ceracap Inai traditional Malay dance. I lead my own dance groups, Hema Dancers in Pahang and Ordinary Dancers at Universiti Malaya, where I organize performances and workshops, further honing my teaching skills.
