About Maja

Hi, I’m Maja! I’m an A-Level Psychology student who recently achieved an A* in Psychology, alongside an A* in English Literature and a B in Biology. Throughout Year 12, Psychology was actually one of the subjects I found most challenging, and I was consistently achieving C grades. Through changing the way I revised, understanding what examiners were looking for, and developing my exam technique, I was able to progress to consistently achieving A*s by Year 13 and finish in the top 0.01% of students in my verified results.
I want to tutor because I know personally how frustrating it can be to put a huge amount of effort into a subject and still feel like your grades aren’t reflecting that effort. I remember being the student who understood the content but struggled to turn that understanding into marks, particularly when it came to AO3 evaluation and longer exam questions.
That experience is something I want to use to help other students. I don’t want tutoring to simply be about giving students more information to memorise — I want to help them understand why they’re losing marks, give them the tools to improve, and show them that moving from a C to an A or A* really is possible.
I especially enjoy helping students who may currently lack confidence in Psychology, because I have been in exactly that position myself. Seeing my own grades transform has provided me with a passion to want to help change students mindsets regarding Psychology to a subject that excites them rather than fills them with dread

About the lesson

I understand first-hand how challenging GCSE and A-Level Psychology can feel, particularly when you are struggling to move beyond lower grades. I went from consistently achieving C grades in Year 12 to achieving A*s in Year 13, finishing in the top 0.01% of students nationally in my verified results.
Because I have experienced that progression myself, I understand the difference between simply knowing the content and knowing how to apply it effectively in an exam. My aim is to help students build both their knowledge and the confidence needed to turn that knowledge into marks.
I provide personalised support, including personally created revision resources and access to subscription-based online resources, with a strong focus on AO1 knowledge and understanding. Building a secure foundation of AO1 allows students to approach the more challenging AO3 evaluation questions with far greater confidence.
For AO3, where many students struggle to consistently access the higher marks, I teach students how to structure and develop effective evaluation. I also provide model paragraphs and adaptable evaluation structures that students can use across a wide range of essay questions, helping them understand what a high-level response looks like rather than simply memorising content.
Most importantly, I tailor my teaching to the individual student. Having experienced the jump from lower grades to A*’s myself, I know the improvement is not about working harder - it is about identifying exactly where the marks are being lost and how to gain them.
