About Cindy
Hi! My name is Cindy and I am a third-year university student. I've loved reading my whole life. I sped through book after book, starting off from picture books as a five-year-old to more complex novels as a 17-year-old. I remember throughout my school years, my peers would always come to me with questions they had about essays, or even just to proofread. I loved helping as much as I could. That's when my passion for tutoring started. As people, we are by nature inquisitive. I believe it's a beautiful thing when we can come to an understanding of our curiosities. When it comes to English, there is much more room for creativity and expression. My goal is to help students find their voice and opinions, and be able to express this fluently in writing, as well as to delve into more complex narratives and topics. With this understanding students can achieve excellence with ease.

Highly personal approach to teaching, getting to know the student and how they learn best. Identifying what their strengths are in the English subject, as well as areas that need to be worked on. I focus on the importance of questions as learning is largely focused on problem-solving by the student. This is especially important in English, as this subject has much more creative freedom; there is less right or wrong, but instead looking at one's own justification of the topic. Lessons can range from one to one and a half hours. I am a third-year student at Victoria University studying a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Education. I have had tutoring experience in my first two years, mainly with dissecting novels. I tutor for levels up to NCEA Level Three.
