About Rohan

Rohan is an experienced violin teacher with over 10 years of teaching, helping students of all levels—from complete beginners to advanced players—develop strong technique and a genuine love for music. He is passionate about teaching Western classical repertoire alongside contemporary styles such as rock, jazz, and Bollywood, so lessons feel both structured and inspiring.

Rohan has trained students for ABRSM grade exams, preparing them for exams, performances, and school or conservatoire auditions. He has also introduced improvisation as a module within his teaching curriculum, helping students become more confident, creative, and better at collaborating with other musicians.

He holds a degree in music education, combines strong pedagogical foundations with real‑world experience as a professional violinist, and has performed in over 500 concerts with bands and on stage. As a music composer, he has worked with BBC Arts and Moonbug Entertainment, and as a recording session violinist he has contributed to more than 50 Indian film scores, giving him a deep understanding of both classical and contemporary music production.

What would you learn?
You will learn to play a broad range of repertoire, including Western classical pieces such as Mozart concertos, Bach partitas, Kreutzer études, and Suzuki‑style material, alongside Indian Bollywood film songs, rock music, and pop songs. This blend helps you build strong technique while keeping lessons engaging and relevant to your musical interests.

For beginner students, lessons focus on:

Core Western classical pieces to develop posture, bowing, and intonation.

Essential music theory and note‑reading.

Ear‑training exercises to improve pitch, rhythm, and listening skills.

For advanced students, the focus shifts to:

Complex Western classical concertos and partitas.

Advanced music theory and harmonic understanding.

Advanced ear training and improvisation over chord progressions (optional).

Exploring contemporary genres such as rock, jazz, and Bollywood styles (optional).

Rohan provides customised exercises tailored to each student’s level, goals, and personal interests, so you can progress in both classical and contemporary playing.
