About Mariana
She has been active as a violin teacher since 2009 and has worked at "Orquestra Geração - Sistema Portugal" with programs inspired by El Sistema.
During her work in Portugal, her interest in social change and diversity through music began.
She participated in many courses and masterclasses with, among others, Susan Simán, Jose Jesus Olivetti, and Paul Griffiths.
From 2014 to 2017, Mariana was a violin teacher and educational coordinator with the Giovane Orchestra Spezzina in La Spezia. She also wrote her thesis in Italy.
Now she teaches at her studio in Amsterdam and also at the Leerorkest program.

I have developed an approach that makes learning the violin, easy and fun. I accept beginners and also advanced students With beginners I use an approach so that I can learn to play music scores. They learn the instrument by imitation, hearing and with the coordination of body movements. Score reading is a complement to their technical development in the violin. My main focus is students' motivation, that's why I like to do different kinds of repertory - from classical to pop / rock. I use an approach that was created by Kato Havas. Students learn how to focus on tensions while playing. During the classes I also like to play with students so that they can also develop skills with other people. It is possible to do group classes. Playing in a group from early age stimulates students' motivation and social skills.
