About Blair

I earned a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, a Master of Music in String Education, and a PhD in String Performance Pedagogy. During the past 13 years, I have worked with students seeking to improve technique, rebuild confidence, and deepen their musical understanding. My passion for violin began through performance experiences and years of dedicated study. Teaching became a natural path because I enjoy helping others discover what they are capable of achieving through music. Supporting student growth continues to inspire me every day.

My teaching philosophy combines patience, structure, and encouragement. Every learner progresses differently, so lessons are tailored to individual goals and learning styles. Technical skills are taught alongside musical expression so that students understand how both elements work together. Learners receive practical guidance and constructive feedback that support long-term improvement. This creates a welcoming environment where progress feels achievable.

Outside teaching, I enjoy chamber music, score analysis, and studying violin repertoire from different historical periods. These interests enrich my lessons and help keep learning engaging. Watching students achieve goals they once thought impossible is deeply fulfilling. I strive to create lessons that are supportive and inspiring. My goal is to help learners build lasting confidence and a lifelong connection with music.

About the lesson

My violin lessons are designed for students who want to strengthen technique while developing confidence and enjoyment in their playing. I focus on bow control, posture, intonation accuracy, tone quality, rhythmic stability, and musical phrasing through structured and supportive instruction. Learners are encouraged to understand the purpose behind every exercise so that practice becomes more meaningful and effective. Lessons balance technical growth with musical expression, helping students connect more deeply with the instrument. This creates a rewarding and motivating learning experience.

Students returning after a break receive patient guidance through carefully planned review activities. Lessons may include open-string warm-ups, slow scale meditation, tone rebuilding exercises, confidence restoration techniques, and performance preparation strategies. Learners who experience nervousness or self-doubt are supported with practical tools that help them rebuild trust in their abilities. Personalized feedback encourages steady progress without unnecessary pressure. This approach helps students regain momentum and enjoy making music again.

My goal is to help students feel capable and inspired every time they play. As skills improve, learners become more willing to explore new repertoire and musical opportunities. Lessons encourage patience, resilience, and self-belief. Every accomplishment contributes to stronger musicianship and personal growth. I want students to feel proud of their progress and motivated to continue learning.
