About Jeanne-Sophie
As a freelance violinist, I am currently active in the Montreal symphonic orchestra scene. I perform regularly in many concert halls across the province of Quebec (including the Maison Symphonique) with a variety of orchestras. On the occasion, I also enjoy working in a chamber music setting (ex.: quartet, duet.)
I have taught lessons individually for many years, and currently at a private French school in Montreal. I have also been teaching at a community music program for a few years, teaching violin to a wide range of children, sometimes with various learning/behavioral challenges.

I like keeping my teaching methods flexible from student to student, depending on their learning style and speed!
- I love helping them through the process of reaching their goals, balancing developing a strong technical base on the instrument and their sense of artistry.
- A good music theory foundation will give all students the ability to play any kind of music that inspires them in the future.
- I believe a combination of positive encouragement and disciplined, organized individual work is the most successful approach. I am a caring and understanding teacher that can push a student where there is potential and guide them through this process.
I comfortably teach in French or English, starting with children from the age of 7. Side note: you are never too old to start learning violin!
