About Sophia
I have been playing violin since the age of six, where I started with a traditional Irish music background, playing with local trad groups and sessions. Over time I developed a love for classical music, and completed the Royal Irish Academy of Music violin classical exams, where I completed Grade VII with distinction in 2021. Since then I have been studying and starting my career in chemistry, and enjoy teaching violin to maintain my musicality and spread my love for the art through students. I enjoy working with beginner violinists to help them develop an appreciation for music in both a theoretical and practical context.

I am offering beginner's violin lessons for traditional Irish fiddle or classical music (up to grade IV). I offer hands-on practical teaching for students to learn intonation, tonality, musicality and theory of music. I will provide beginner's materials and as such this is included in lesson costs. Students can learn traditional Irish fiddle tunes suitable for céilí/session settings, or classical theory and pieces.
