About Sandrine

Hello everyone! I am Sandrine. I was a tenured associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of British Columbia, Canada. My main research was in visual arts and cultural education. When I was in Taiwan, I was a primary school teacher, and I was also a Mandarin teacher with a Mandarin teaching certificate.

Starting from the research on visual culture and art education, I learned the importance of cultural education, and I also firmly believe that without understanding a culture, stereotypes can cause misunderstandings. After misunderstandings arise, discrimination cannot be avoided. Being abroad, I always hope that Chinese culture can be understood by the world so that the world can see the diversity and profundity of Chinese culture. I also hope to help Chinese who grew up abroad to have a deeper understanding and acknowledgment of Chinese culture.

About the lesson

I am a student-centered educator. I care about what students like, want, and need to learn.
I use examples and activities to help students achieve the learning goal.
Currently, I am also designing a curriculum to teach Chinese art and culture in both Chinese and English.
I teach all ages, and love working with students!
