About Verity

I am an experienced performer who spent 10 years working in London's West End and international touring productions for major commercial shows, including: Pygmalion (The Garrick Theatre, London), Relatively Speaking (Theatre Royal Bath, touring production), The Bodyguard (Dominion Theatre, London), Dirty Dancing (UK no.1 Tour), Flashdance (UK no.1 Tour as leading lady cover), Chess (UK no.1 Tour).

In the last 6 years I have established a corporate career in advertising; I am currently working as a Business Director for an award-winning London creative agency where my role requires public speaking engagements, pitching for new business, and leading teams across a portfolio of clients.

I bring an understanding of the corporate world, fuelled with a creativity and techniques from my life in theatre. I love to coach others, especially when it comes to building confidence in presenting and pitching - these are key skills that have helped me progress quickly in my own professional life.

About the lesson

After an initial consultation to establish your goals, your current barriers, and any specific engagements/presentations that you are working towards I will share with you the proposed lesson agenda for our next sessions. Typically I will recommend 2 - 4 sessions as a minimum but I'm happy to work with what you need.

Areas we will cover:

- Content preparation and keynote structure (if required) for your specific event. This sets you up with a flow that you feel confident with, and nails the all-important opener; your one chance to win over your audience

- What the hell to do with your hands. And the rest of your body. As a performer I have shared a stage with the likes of Rupert Everett, Dame Dianna Rigg (Pygmalion at The Garrick), Felicity Kendall (Relatively Speaking, Theatre Royal Bath production) and Brenda Blethyn (Haunted, Manchester Royal Exchange touring production). Not only did I learn from them - I had to make sure my game was ON PAR with them!! I'll bring acting and dance techniques that will ground you and help to centre your presence - however you might be feeling on the inside (nerves don't vanish - we learn how to manage them).

- Vocal techniques for projection and intonation. The 'melody' of your speech can make or break the command you have in a room.

- 1-2-1 working style where I help with every nuance of your presentation style. We will work through your talk, or an example presentation where I help you understand current habits and establish new practices.
