About Essence
Hello & 你好！Welcome to my Chinese class!
If you are a complete beginner looking for a structured, patient, and highly encouraging tutor, you’re in the right place!
Why Choose Me?
Pedagogical Expertise (TESL Degree): I am not just a native speaker—I am a trained language educator. With a degree in TESL and a background in SLA (Second Language Acquisition), I bring proven teaching methodologies and structured lesson plans that untrained native speakers simply lack.
Coach Mindset (Former Professional Swimmer): Trained as a professional swimmer from age 7 to 15, I apply the same discipline, patience, and step-by-step coaching style to language teaching. I know how to break down complex skills (like Pinyin & tones) into easy, manageable movements—guiding you until it becomes muscle memory!
Clear English Explanations & 1-on-1 Experience: Having years of 1-on-1 English teaching experience and interning in multilingual schools, I excel at bridging the language gap with precise English explanations so you never feel lost or confused.
25+ Years of Native Chinese Mastery: As a native speaker with over 25 years of daily language use, I bring authentic, modern, and practical Chinese straight to our lessons—no outdated textbook jargon!
Encouraging & Zero-Anxiety Environment: I cultivate a high-support, positive space where mistakes are welcomed as progress. Plus, as an avid traveler, reader, movie lover, and sports enthusiast, our class conversations will always be fun, engaging, and relevant!
What We Can Do Together:
️ Zero-to-Hero Pinyin & Tones: Master Chinese pronunciation effortlessly with visual aids and mouth-positioning techniques.
Real-Life Conversations: Practice practical dialogue for travel, daily life, hobbies, and social scenarios from Day 1.
Customized Scaffolding: 100% tailored 1-on-1 lessons designed around your personal goals, learning pace, and interests.
Language learning is a marathon, not a sprint—and I’m here to coach you every step of the way!
Book a trial lesson with me today, and let's start your Chinese journey together! ️
