About Azania
Penning her first words in poetry as a way to discern the distress she witnessed growing up in a post-apartheid township in South Africa, Azania’s desire to write has always stemmed from a observation-healing point of view. She has used her curiosity, and personal life, to explore topics relating to and of the human experience; particularly as it pertains to race, identity and spirituality.
A passionate writer and storyteller, Azania’s creative style draws on narratives that have been lived as well as characters that live among us. Her voice is a unique amalgamation of western creative narrative and poetry deliberately drawing from elements of African indigenous knowledge systems and traditional folktale which motivates the worlds of her stories.
