About Lola
I work as an editor of a youth magazine and I have experience with individual and group tutoring in English, essay writing, grammar, and creative writing/poetry. I regularly offer online classes in creative writing for youth (usually aimed at secondary-school students), and have also given workshops in creative writing and poetry. My own writing includes work in poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and essays.
I'm passionate about writing and helping students find their own creative voice. I am drawn to teaching, as we are always learning and striving to improve our craft, and in teaching others we can come to understand ourselves all the more. I believe creativity and critical thinking go hand-in-hand, and I try to place an emphasis on both these skills in my lessons. I find writing the perfect opportunity to work on strengthening each of these areas, while aiming to bring them together in a finished product.

Experienced tutor teaching writing for all levels: improve your understanding of grammar, hone essay technique and critical thinking skills, and/or explore your creative/poetic voice.
I enjoy working with students from a variety of backgrounds to hone lesson approach to meet their specific needs. My teaching style for writing is generally discussion-based, so students have the chance to discover what they have to say for themselves. Recommended reading is also provided where relevant, as reading others' work can offer good insight into how we think about our own.
Lesson length is typically one hour, but can vary as necessary.
This ad is aimed particularly at students in their teen or young adult years (secondary or tertiary education), but I encourage anyone to get in touch with me if interested.
