About Sophie
My name is Sophie and I’m 19 years old
I went to a Gaelscoil for 7 years and spoke Irish at home growing up!
What made me want to teach Irish is:
I understand it’s a tricky language and the way it is taught in schools (primary/secondary) can be harder than it needs to be.
Class teachers don’t always have the time to do 1 on 1’s and that’s how kids get confused or left behind in the subject.
That’s why I’m here! I will try my best to explain it and break it down as simply as possible.
I also feel as though the Irish language/curriculum can be overwhelming at times and is sometimes taught poorly. I don’t want such a beautiful language to come to an end. The way it is taught in schools can put students off. That’s why I will try to make it interesting and simple!
I also can teach Irish history such as the Famine, Easter Rising, Civil War, and the Troubles.

We will have a free Zoom/call/meet up (whichever is easiest for you) and I will just introduce myself, what I do, get to know you and what level you are at with the Irish language!
I will then understand where you are at and make a plan from there.
