About Ethan

My name is Ethan Dehantschutter, and I’m a 23-year-old PhD student. I achieved a H1 in Leaving Cert Biology and know how much effort and strategy it takes to get there. I want to teach because I believe every student is capable of excelling in Biology if they’re given the right support, clear explanations, and exam-focused guidance.

Biology is a subject I’ve always been passionate about, and teaching allows me to share that passion in a way that directly helps others achieve their goals. I enjoy breaking down difficult concepts into simple, logical steps and showing students how to apply their knowledge in exam conditions. For me, the best part of tutoring is seeing a student’s confidence grow as they realise they can reach — and often exceed — their target grade.

About the lesson

My approach is simple: I’m here to get you a H1 in Biology.

I focus on the Leaving Cert exam from the very first lesson, breaking down the syllabus into manageable sections and showing you exactly how to answer questions the way examiners want. Every session is built around past papers, marking schemes, and proven techniques that I used myself to secure a H1.

Lessons are usually 1 hour, with the option to adjust depending on what works best for you. We’ll focus on your weak spots, build up your confidence, and make sure you’re practicing the right way — not just learning the content, but mastering the exam strategy.

I’m a 23-year-old PhD student in Biology, researching how cells adapt to hypoxia. I know the subject inside out, but most importantly, I know the exam inside out. My teaching is 100% exam-focused and tailored to Leaving Cert students aiming for top marks.
