About Justin
I have 15+ years of experience teaching college-level humanities (history, philosophy, literature, art, religion, etc.). I hold a BA in History and Philosophy and an MA focused on the history of theology. While I'm particularly knowledgeable in the ancient and classical (Greco-Roman) world, I have a general passion for the big-picture story of human history, the history of ideas, and great books, and I love sharing that passion with my students. If you need to level up in history or just want to grow intellectually, I'm here for you.

I start by getting to know you along with your goals, challenges, and how you like to learn. Our time together will then be guided by these factors—personalized and structured yet flexible. I'll meet you where you're at and take you to the next level, at your pace. I think it important that we enjoy the learning process, so I aim to make history come alive.
I emphasize deep understanding (the meaning of history, people, and events, key ideas and concepts explained with concrete examples, large trends and themes, helpful general timelines, etc.) and genuine intellectual growth rather than mechanical memorization.
I can provide assignment and project assistance, exam prep, practice tests, and detailed feedback on writing and essays (I've graded thousands!) to increase your writing skills.
Or if you just want to grow intellectually through having deep dive discussions about the "great conversation" (great ideas, great books, human nature, etc.) that's been taking place in the human story for millennia, I'd love to serve you as an intellectual mentor on that front.
