About Yomi

am passionate about Religious Studies and genuinely enjoy helping students explore different beliefs, ideas and perspectives. I currently work as the Head of Religious Studies and Citizenship at my academy, bringing extensive classroom experience and a strong understanding of the challenges students face at both GCSE and A Level.

I aim to make lessons engaging, approachable and relevant, helping students develop not only their subject knowledge but also the confidence to express their ideas and tackle challenging questions.

Outside of teaching, I am an avid football and boxing fan and enjoy keeping active. I also have a keen interest in a range of subjects, ideas and current affairs, which I often bring into my teaching to help students connect what they learn in the classroom to the wider world.

Above all, I am enthusiastic, approachable and committed to helping every student reach their potential.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is engaging, supportive and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I use a range of pedagogical approaches to make lessons interactive while ensuring students develop a strong understanding of the subject and the confidence to apply their knowledge independently.

Lessons typically last 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the student’s age, needs and learning goals. I combine clear explanations with discussion, questioning, exam practice and regular consolidation. I also use storytelling and memorable examples to help students understand and retain more challenging concepts, particularly in Religious Studies, Philosophy and Ethics.

I have 9 years’ experience as a secondary school teacher, teaching students from Year 7 through to Year 13, including GCSE and A Level students. I have also worked as a Head of Year and have experience tutoring English and Maths alongside my specialist subjects.

My lessons can include exam-style questions, homework, flipped learning and consolidation quizzes, helping students to identify gaps in their knowledge and make steady progress. I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their skills.

I offer tuition for Year 7–13 students, including secondary school and sixth form, and can adapt lessons to suit different abilities, learning styles and examination requirements.
