About Zou

Hi everyone, you can call me by either Linghao, or Loe Laoshi. I come from a city in southern China - my hometown is famous for its spicy food and the historic residences of renowned writers️. Can you guess where it is?

I’m currently based in Montreal, Canada. I hold a Bachelor of Science from McGill University and a Master’s degree from USC, specializing in Biotechnology. During my nine years living in North America, I’ve made friends from all over the world🏻 and accumulated 2+ yrs of experience in Mandarin tutoring.

I’m deeply passionate about exploring different cultures, can you imagine the traces of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization have appeared in so many places? From the Rococo style in European architecture️ , and social etiquette in Southeast Asia🫂, to the craftsmanship in Japan and Korea️ - all of which carry the heritage of Huaxia civilization! If you’re a history buff or a culture enthusiast, you definitely don’t want to miss my classes!

About the lesson

Why Choose My Course?

With a minor in Cognitive Science, I truly understand the underlying language learning mechanism: that the brain doesn't learn a language through rote memorization. Instead, we should simplify complex grammar into easy-to-understand "building blocks"🟥, progressing step-by-step️.

We will also engage in plenty of situational practice, so you can master essential "survival phrases" and travel through China with zero barriers!

If you are preparing for Chinese proficiency exams, here is my personal take on test prep:
HSK: Focuses on foundational vocabulary and grammar; I provide tailored training for different levels️
BCT: Emphasizes professional workplace communication and advanced logical application
YCT: Uses a fun "visual-graphic method" to spark language interest in younger learners

I never want my classes to be boring—during our sessions, we can:
Immerse ourselves in sci-fi blockbusters like 《流浪地球》| The Wandering Earth.
Analyze palace dramas like 《甄嬛传》| Empresses in the Palace🫅🏻.
I also frequently share Chinese stand-up comedy and pop songs with my students.

My students usually love this type of training; it helps them pick up authentic Chinese expressions quickly️ - just like how many Chinese students watch Friends to learn English

In short, through plenty of fun speaking practice️ and precise written exercises, I’ll help you master Chinese quickly and naturally. What are you waiting for? Start your first trial lesson today!

In our trial lesson, we will dive deep into your learning needs and pain points, ensuring you start your Chinese journey with comfort and confidence️. Also, as a "new teacher" perk, we can discuss your preferred rates and schedule during our first session. I’ll do my best to accommodate your needs.
