About Hazel
I am a passionate guitar tutor with 11 years of teaching experience and a degree in Music Performance. My approach focuses on helping students develop their musical expression and critical listening skills. I encourage individual creativity, guiding each student to find their unique voice on the instrument. I believe in fostering well-rounded musicianship through a balanced study of chord theory, technique, improvisation, and ear training. Lessons are tailored to each student’s level, from Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate, as well as Professional and Expert players. I emphasise understanding music, not just playing it, so students can interpret and perform with confidence. Through structured exercises, creative projects, and listening practice, students strengthen both technical skills and artistic sensibility. I support them in exploring different styles and developing their own musical identity. My goal is to make every lesson engaging, inspiring, and rewarding. Whether you want to perform, compose, or simply enjoy playing with mastery, I am here to guide your journey. My teaching approach is designed to help students of all levels discover the joy of playing guitar. I focus on building a strong foundation in both technique and musical understanding. Fingerstyle playing, lead guitar phrasing, and creative composition are key areas we explore together. I guide students to develop personal expression through their instrument. We work on scales, chords, and rhythm exercises to strengthen both hands and improve timing. Improvisation and soloing are emphasised, helping students create their own musical voice. I encourage learning across different styles, from blues and rock to acoustic and jazz. I support students who aspire to perform or compose, helping them achieve their musical goals. Lessons are a mix of structured practice and creative exploration. I include exercises that develop ear training, phrasing, and dynamic control. Students learn how to adapt songs, experiment with tone, and bring their own ideas to life. I believe every student can excel with consistent practice and the right guidance. My aim is to make each lesson inspiring, fun, and meaningful.
