About Jimmy
Teaching piano offers a natural balance to my work with violinists. My degree from Rice University Shepherd School provided a foundation that I now use to guide students through sight playing, hand independence, and music theory.
I appreciate working with neurodivergent students, focusing on dynamics, expression, and precise pedaling technique. Memorization techniques and accompaniment skills round out the syllabus. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to explore this path.

Playing piano is often easier when you stop trying to be perfect. My 13 years of teaching at Rice University and regional ensembles inform how I simplify complex tasks for my 334 students. We start with a free trial lesson to map out your goals, which helps me understand how your brain processes rhythm and theory. Even challenging pieces become enjoyable when we break them down into smaller, manageable movements that fit your unique learning style.
