A classically trained violinist and University of Sydney student with 2+ years of experience teaching adults and children violin, 15+ years of experience playing the violin since the age of 5, 8+ years of experience in ensembles, orchestras and performance. I have experience teaching beginner adults and children (from age 4) and intermediate students (up to Grade 8) for two years. I have been able to foster exceptional AMEB results from students, majority getting A+ and A. Additionally, I have taught groups of 3-10 adults so I have experience teaching with groups if needed!

My lessons are adapted to the student's needs, I always try to understand the student's goals, level and playing style, then give them materials whilst demonstrating essential techniques to improve and develop their craft. Whether you want to play just for fun or for exams or any other reason, there are so many amazing things to explore on the violin.
I have taught many beginners from scratch and have accepted students who have had previous teachers, which is easy to adapt. Additionally I am happy to be a practice teacher which some parents are interested in. If you have any concerns or would like to know more about the way I teach, please feel free to ask :)
I tend to focus a lot on basic techniques such as posture, intonation, bowing, shifting, articulation and more, as I believe this is the most essential to seeing improvement in your violin playing. The books and material I mainly use are the Essential Music for Strings books, Encore for Strings book, Wagon Wheels, Suzuki Books, AMEB books, Study Book 1 and 2 by Zhang Shi-Xiang and the Ševčík Method, not every student has to go through all of these, I will have to judge based on the level of the student, what material to provide them. A lot of students will like to play popular songs, movie soundtracks and others more than classical music and I am more than happy to accommodate to that! I have trained students to do AMEB exams having received exceptional results in them, school orchestra/band material, scholarships and eisteddfods.
