About Mary Lou

Hello! I’m a friendly and patient reading tutor who enjoys helping children improve their reading skills.

I believe that every child learns differently and at their own pace. That’s why I make my lessons simple, comfortable, and encouraging. I don’t want my students to feel afraid of making mistakes. Instead, I encourage them to try, practice, and gain confidence little by little.

My lessons focus only on reading, including letter sounds, phonics, word recognition, reading sentences, and reading short stories.

My goal is to help every student become a better and more confident reader while making each lesson enjoyable and stress-free.

I would be happy to be part of your child’s reading journey!

About the lesson

I use a simple, patient, and encouraging approach to help children improve their reading skills. I adjust the lesson based on the child’s reading level and learning pace. A typical reading lesson may include: Warm-up – A short and friendly activity to get the student comfortable.
Review – Review letters, sounds, or words from the previous lesson.
New Lesson – Introduce new sounds, words, or reading material.
Guided Practice – Read words, sentences, or a short story together.
Independent Practice – Let the student try reading on their own while I provide support when needed.
Feedback and Encouragement – Point out their progress, gently correct mistakes, and encourage them to keep practicing. What makes my lessons different is my patience and focus on building confidence. I understand that children learn at different speeds, so I don't pressure them to read perfectly right away.

My goal is not only to help children read better, but also to help them enjoy reading and feel confident when they read. Every small improvement is a step forward!
