Hello from over here!

𝐈'𝐦 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐢, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫! Usually found in my happy place - advising musicians from my home studio in Newcastle (Heaton, NE6 5DW) both in-person and online. I'm a professional performing composer with several bands, with 20+ years of musical experience across many styles. I hold my guidance to an extra high standard and pride myself on being just as good at helping beginners with getting started, and advanced musicians progressing to fill the gaps in their existing knowledge.

I've been "music mad" literally ever since I was a child, and I'm lucky to have studied under amazing teachers along my own journey. I graduated with a First Class Honours in Popular & Contemporary Music from Newcastle University, before I went on to then achieve a Distinction in my Masters studying Creative Arts Practice. With my band SQUARMS, I've performed on many stages in countries around the world, playing a catalogue of self-composed music that we've independently produced and released.

I'm observably pretty good at helping students manage their confidence - I've helped people to achieve extraordinary things. Some of my students even say they feel like they've 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 through these classes. My son has been having singing lessons with Alexei for a couple of months now.. It has actually been wonderful to see him grow in confidence, practise so enthusiastically and look forward to every lesson! Alexei has so clearly taken the time to work out what motivates him and what will help him improve. I think it is very rare to find a teacher who really teaches the individual, rather than going for a one-size-fits-all approach. My son is so happy with his lessons that his sister now wants in on the act I would have no hesitation in recommending Alexei for anyone.

Alexei genuinely is an amazing tutor. Not only does he have a deep knowledge and passion for music, but he is also able to explain pretty complex concepts in a simple (and entertaining) way. Alexei quickly understood exactly what I want from the lessons and tailored them in a way that fits me perfectly. He definitely knows how to make the learning process fun and enjoyable as well. It's also great that we can learn both the guitar and singing at the same time, rather than going to two separate tutors like I used to. In just a few sessions I feel that I'm already making actual tangible progress and I'm more motivated than ever! Looking forward to our future lessons!

Alexei is a fantastic tutor, he has been teaching my 13 year old daughter how to sing. We first wrote to Alexei to say that we were uncertain if Lucy would even be able to speak as she suffers with selective mutism, however he happily took on the challenge and had my daughter singing from the get go. He is super relaxed, approachable and friendly. His lessons are jam packed full of fun and encouragement. Needless to say, his positivity and passion for music will definitely rub off on you - we've started calling him the Bob Ross of Music!

About the lesson

We can directly study whatever kind of music you are interested in together. My main goal is to help people achieve deeper understanding and satisfying development as quickly as possible. It's going to be a joy for us both; my genuine enthusiasm for music is more infectious than you even probably first imagine!

𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭:
It is my pleasure to share the gift of 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 in my sessions, at the highest possible standard: guitar, bass, keys, vocals, composition, production, management and theory (in any combination). My sessions are always valuable and versatile by default, I prioritise practically applicable information for my clients. I'm personally proud to consider myself a dedicated, passionate and experienced mentor. I have developed an instinctual sense for what my musicians might benefit from pursuing. Helping people move forwards is what really makes me tick - rest assured your progress is in safe hands.

To anybody looking just to get started, or learn purely for the enjoyment.. all of my lessons are FUN! Approaching this stuff can definitely feel hard; but in fact it's actually very important to me that my students learn as a central pillar of our lessons how they can connect with the 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤. We always have a good time in my class - the sessions always fly by.

My home studio provides an ideal atmosphere to ensure that you effectively relax while you're developing with me; I'm super conscious of how daunting and frustrating the journey towards making progress can sometimes seem. I love to discuss deep listening, composition theory and songwriting technique. I have all the equipment required to teach 'industry standard' recording production together. This alchemy is undeniably super fun for anyone to experience- particularly people already keen to learn more about how the process of music making really works.

I use a wide range of audio software in my own productions, and we definitely can "nerd out" in-depth about any technical stuff that might interest you! I occasionally host group workshops on various topics alongside my artist associates.

I'm very happy to advise people about working within the music industry, but I also want to assure applicants that absolute beginners are just as welcome to enquire for lessons as seasoned pros. I honestly just enjoy working alongside anyone with a hungry enthusiasm for music.
