About Jon

Jon Reynolds is an Advanced Functional Trainer and Field-Based Biomechanics Coach with 17 years of experience, and a former British Army Paratrooper and Captain.

Don't let the military background put you off. It speaks to the standard Jon holds himself to as a coach, not how he runs a session. Sessions for young athletes are structured, fun and built around how children actually learn and develop.

Jon specialises in how the body moves: acceleration, sprint mechanics and change of direction. Rather than just running kids through drills, he identifies what's holding each young athlete back and fixes it, so they get faster and stay injury free.

Jon is also autistic with ADHD, and brings that same forensic attention to detail to every client he works with. It also means he understands neurodivergent children first-hand and adapts his coaching to how each child learns best.

Based in East London, also coaching weekly in Doncaster, and online.

About the lesson

Hi, I'm Jon. I coach young footballers who want to get faster. Most of my young clients want to win the first 5 metres, because the player who reaches the ball first controls the game. We work on acceleration, sprint mechanics and change of direction using drills that are proper coaching, not boot camp. Sessions are structured, age-appropriate and fun, and parents are welcome to watch.

I currently coach young players weekly, from primary age through to teenagers, including defenders working specifically on closing down the first 5 metres. Siblings and teammates can train together, which keeps costs down and makes sessions more competitive and more fun.

Sessions last 45 minutes, the same length as one half of a football match, which is right for young athletes' focus and energy. In person in East London or Doncaster, or live online. Every session is built around your child's age, sport and goals. No one-size-fits-all programmes, just practical, evidence-informed coaching that gets real results.

Please note: rather than a free training session, the free first meeting is a relaxed 15-minute consultation. We chat through your child's goals and experience, you can ask me anything, and there's no pressure and no obligation to book. Sessions are £60 each and last 45 minutes, the right length for young athletes.
