About Katharine

I have worked as a GCSE tutor teaching GCSE Biology and Chemistry using my interactive, personalised method, which improved my students grades and also her confidence when answering questions in class and going into exams. I have successfully tutored medical students facilitating them to significantly improve exam score, and also taught small and large groups of junior medical students, where I use the same successful methods to explain complex concepts in a memorable and effective way.

I have developed this method of teaching chemistry from my experiences successfully studying for and achieving high exam scores in the sciences in my GCSEs, AS levels, A levels, as well as at the undergraduate level. I attended non-selective schools with average national pass rates, and achieved A*s in Biology and Chemistry at A level, frequently scoring >90% in both subjects, and 100% in an AS level biology exam by developing a method of learning which combines building a solid foundation of knowledge and practice of exam technique to facilitate consistently high exam scores. This method has continued to be fruitful during my undergraduate studies, where I achieved a 1st class score in every year of my BSc, and was ranked in the top decile of my medical school class, frequently scoring in the top 5% for examinations.

About the lesson

I am a final year graduate medical student at King's College London, having graduated in 2017 with a first class BSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Warwick. My teaching involves interactive learning with the student. Firstly, together we identify weaknesses in your knowledge and improve them to provide a solid foundation. Using written and verbal fact recognition exercises, we boost your knowledge and use of keywords, crucial in performing well in exams from GCSE and above. Combining these methods, we work on your exam technique, tailoring answers to your exam board style so that you hold both an excellent understanding of chemistry, and excel in examinations as a GCSE, A Level and undergraduate student.
