Grace McLaughlin Acting is the highest caliber acting and performance training, centered around accessibility and growth.

Grace McLaughlin has studied acting extensively at the University of California, Riverside and the Stella Adler's Studio of Acting in New York City.

Additionally, Grace has a strong passion for arts outreach and has worked tirelessly to bring live theater to schools, community centers and even prisons across Los Angeles and New York City.

To me acting and artistic exploration opens doors for young people and adults to learn more about themselves. The study of acting is necessary to deepen not just your craft but the full breadth of who you can be.

I have always loved helping to frame acting in this way and seeing people expand their comfort levels in tangible ways.

I have been teaching in various forms for a long time. My senior year of high school I was the teaching assistant for the sophmore and junior acting classes. In college I directed and stage managed several plays as well as being on the leadership team for all on campus student productions.

From there, I found I had a natural affinity for teaching and through my own training and experience gained the tools and vocabulary to teach acting on the highest calliber scale.

I have extensive training in many acting styles including contemporary acting, shakespeare, musical theater and improv.

I completed my graduate studies in acting at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Professsional Conservatory Program. I also recieved a bachelors in Theater, Film and Digital Production from the University of California, Riverside.

Additonally, I have worked extensively in arts outreach. In 2016 I worked with the Gluck Fellowship of the Arts to bring Educational Children's Theater to underserved communities in the Los Angeles area. In 2020, I was cast in a touring production of Macbeth aimed at bringing Shakespeare to prisons, schools and community centers throughout New York City.

About the lesson

To get started I like to get a bit of background about each student: experience, goals, places for improvement ect.

From there the experience is tailored to each individual student! At the end of every lessons students should come away with greater understanding of acting technique, exercises to address areas that need improvment and tangible ways to move forward in their personal goals.

I have worked with a variety of students from all ages. Primarily my focus has been in teens and children however I love teaching adults as well!

I pride myself on teaching in ways that are inclusive and accessible to all backgrounds and have worked with many students that come from low income households.

There are many different types of acting and thus many different types of acting teachers!

For example, when I was a student I found some teachers were masters of technique because of the decades of experience they had. This experience gave them tons of wisdom and confidence that they could then bestow on their students.

However, I also had newer teachers that provided huge value of their own. Newer teachers often were working actors themselves and could provide real time tips and tricks for navigating the ever changing world of casting.

So depending on what kind of experience you want, look for teachers who can provide that.

This year I had the distinct priveledge of getting to educate and perform for some of the people being detained at Rikers Correctional Faciltiy in New York City. This was a hugely impactful experience and one that I helped solidify my belief that the arts are essential and should be accessible to all folks.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
When looking for a teacher be realistic about your goals. Are you looking to hone skills in an area you already feel quite comfortable in? Are you looking to be pushed out of your comfort zone? Are you new and looking for a foundation? Are you looking for someone who can provide insight into the business side of acting?
