About Munahid
Hi, I'm Khan.
I'm a Grade 12 student in London who has been accepted into the University of Toronto's Engineering Science program and Waterloo's Mechanical Engineering program — two of the most selective and academically demanding programs in the country. Getting there required genuinely mastering the subjects I now teach: Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, Grade 12 Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Electrochemistry, and Data Management. I didn't just pass these courses — I understood them deeply enough that explaining them clearly to others comes naturally to me.
I started tutoring because I remember exactly what it felt like to sit in a math or chemistry class and have something not click, despite paying full attention. That feeling is frustrating, and it is almost never the student's fault. It usually means one earlier concept wasn't fully understood, and everything built on top of it has been shaky ever since. Finding that gap and fixing it properly — rather than patching over it with memorized steps — is what my sessions are about.
I work with students from Grade 9 through Grade 12, including IB and AP students, and I adapt to each person individually. Some students need to slow down and rebuild from a specific point. Others are doing fine but want to push for a higher mark. Both are welcome, and both get the same level of attention and care.
Outside of academics, I'm someone who reads widely, trains seriously, and approaches everything I do with the same level of commitment I bring to tutoring. I say this not to fill space, but because I think it matters who you learn from — and I take showing up prepared, patient, and fully present for every session seriously.
If you are a student who wants to actually understand the material — not just survive the next test — I would love to work with you.

My approach as a tutor
My name is Khan, and I am a Grade 12 student accepted into the University of Toronto's Engineering Science program — one of the most competitive undergraduate programs in Canada. I achieved top marks in Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, Grade 12 Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Electrochemistry, and Data Management, and I teach all of these subjects up to the Grade 12 and IB level.
How I teach
My sessions are built around one belief: students who struggle are almost never lacking ability — they are missing one or two foundational concepts that were never explained clearly. I start every session by finding exactly where understanding breaks down, then we fix it from there.
I use the Feynman Technique — explaining everything in plain language until the student can explain it back without notes. No memorizing steps they don't understand. No skipping the "why." For math, I build conceptual understanding before procedural fluency. For chemistry, I teach through mechanisms and logic rather than rules, which makes topics like electrochemistry and organic reaction pathways genuinely click instead of just stick temporarily before an exam.
A typical session
We open with a short recap of the previous topic — the student explains it back to me, which immediately shows what's solid and what needs revisiting. I then introduce the new concept using a concrete analogy before any formula appears. I work through an example narrating every decision, then the student works through a similar one while thinking out loud. The final twenty minutes are past-exam-style practice questions targeting exactly what their upcoming test will cover. Every session closes with the student summarizing the three key things they learned.
What sets me apart
I took these courses recently. I know the Ontario curriculum, the IB syllabus, and exactly which misconceptions lead to lost marks on these specific exams. I also bring genuine patience — especially for students who feel behind or have been told they are not "math people." That has never once been true in my experience.
Who this is for
Grade 9 through Grade 12 students in the Ontario curriculum, IB Mathematics SL and HL, AP Chemistry, and AP Calculus. I work with students who are struggling, students aiming for a higher mark, and students building toward competitive university programs. Small group sessions of two to four students are also available, particularly effective for exam season review.
