About Julian
I have been in the industry since the late 90's.
Worked as an actor with numerous leading roles in film.
I am a trained Director with a Masters in Filmmaking from Kingston School of Art, London.
I am also a screenwriter and Director of The Monochrome Film Festival.
My work has been award nominated and received awards globally.

Your work must be believable and of a high quality. I aim to get you there. A lot of fundamentals are missed by both actors and directors, which leads to an obvious sense of weak performance on screen. The only way to pass this is to work harder and longer than the rest!
For actors, getting into the zone/moment with your character is crucial for effectiveness. Alongside character play we will focus on vocal delivery and projection techniques. Physical presence and projection. Tools to access when in front of camera, and for what shot is needed.
For directors, a lot of work needs to be put into casting the right quality actor, instead of just how they look! Crucial shot choices when working with actors, and how to be sure you don't weaken the performance by choosing the wrong shot. How to compliment your actors and keep a sacred space between yourselves and the rest of the crew. Analysing dialogue and making sure it works effectively for your performers. Thinking ahead to your score, soundtrack, and editing style so as to be sure the film stays strong and attractive for festival release around the world.
