About Peter

I love tutoring acting. I love seeing someone flourish; come out of themselves; trust their instincts. I love to see the student who is low-key embarrassed by their interests (branded geeky or stupid by the ignorant) realise that those same interests have bred talent and joy and strength. I trained as an actor and director in London, and have now spent years acting in touring plays, directing theatre, writing poetry, writing plays, recording voice over work, designing stages, painting scenery and and producing shows! I've worked in just about every aspect of theatre.

About the lesson

MY VALUES & TEACHING METHOD I have always tailored my tutoring towards the individual. The first step to any good teacher-student relationship is mutual understanding. Every single student is utterly unique, and it's my job first and foremost to understand as much about them as possible - what are their loves and their fears; what makes them laugh and what makes them sad. Then and only then will I know exactly what they need to progress. I firmly believe this sets me apart from a huge number of tutors. From my own experience of once being where you are now, I found that my tutors cared little for me as a person, and only for me as a product. Their mistake was forgetting that the two are connected. I, and you, will revel in the connection. I also have experience directing professional theatre, as well as tutoring a broad variety of abilities and age groups, from middle school students right up to 80 year olds. Regarding technical approach - my teaching methods tend towards two known schools: Konstantin Stanislavski and Sandford Meisner. Using these I have created what I feel to be a balanced and extraordinarily effective approach which focuses upon teaching the actor to not only trust their instincts and impulses (Meisner) but to identify both them and their sources as they are happening, and develop a fluid control without losing sincerity of emotion and action (Stanislavski).
