About Adam

One of my regrets was not studying a 4th A-level as my school wouldn't allow it, I now realise I could have done this independently had I have found the right tutor that fits me. Now, I aim to fill that gap in the market and ensure that students aren't left feeling alone and in the dark.

I saw just months ago on results day the effects of having tutors that kids did not align with. They felt that their grades were irredeemable and were not able to enjoy time out of the classroom due to extreme stress. And, for the vast majority this ended in sub-standard grades and general disappointment. I feel this should not be the case, and that any student can achieve any grade they want, without making school their whole lives. Especially in times with so much going on such as uni applications, working jobs, sport, and other extracurriculars.

About the lesson

My experience as a tutor may be limited by my age, however I have worked first hand with real students who have spoken to me candidly within school/sixth form on what works for them, and more importantly what doesn't and wastes time. I am going to study law at Durham after achieving A*A*A*. I also received 2 individual awards from my school for Business and Politics for being the top performer.

My philosophy is practical and applied. Many students struggle with tutors who can't understand the stress, practical constraints, and reality of how challenging being a student can be. Having just sat my A-levels this last summer - I still take into account the students' perspective and mould my lessons around this.

Many of my techniques revolve around spaced repetition and active recall to ensure students do the best value possible tasks for their precious time. For example, practice exam questions, creating knowledge dumps, and interactive discussions over difficult topics.

I am willing to teach anyone of any age and level, as access to high-quality education should not be limited. With my student-focused approach I believe that sessions don't have to be lengthy to be effective and meaningful to a student's grade. Despite this, I still am happy to teach for up to 1 hour 45 mins for most lessons (but can vary at your preference).
