About Ashleigh

- What kind of experience do you have?

I taught English as a Foreign Language for 3 years in Singapore. I taught all age groups and also conducted one to one coaching as well as group classes.
I have taught Singing for over ten years to children and adults and also run Musical Theatre workshops with school children. I am very flexible as to the styles I can teach as I have a broad experience in Classical, Music Theatre and Contemporary singing.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes I do.

- Where and with whom did you train?

I did my Singing/Acting training at Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore. It was an intense 3 year Bachelor Degree and I graduated with 1st Class Honours.
For my English training I completed a TESOL Teacher Training Course and graduated with a Level 6 Certificate in Teaching English (passed with Distinction).

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I am also a member of Spotlight which is a database for professional performers.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

One of my students has recently worked in a Netflix series starring Michael C Hall.

I have other students who have been offered places in various drama schools/colleges.

About the lesson

I am an experienced and qualified teacher who has also worked professionally in Musical Theatre on the West End. Because of my background in performing I am confident, fun and very approachable. I teach everyone from children to adults!

Bachelor of Arts-Music Theatre, Honours 1st Class- Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore
Associate Diploma in Classical Voice (AMEB, Australia)
5th Grade Piano Certificate (AMEB, Australia)
6th Grade Music Theory (AMEB, Australia)

- How much do you charge?

Singing/Acting/Audition Technique is £40/hr from my home.

- Where do you teach?

I teach from home and live in Croxley, Watford.

- When are you available?

I am free afternoons/evenings but can be flexible. I can even teach weekday mornings if that suits your schedule best.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach from 7 years old- adult.
I can help prepare for Singing/English exams or simply teach for fun and to build confidence in the student.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I am very flexible so whatever the student is striving to achieve, I will endeavor to prepare them for it.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

As a Singing Coach I focus on students being able to have fun and develop their confidence when it comes to all aspects of performing. If students want to take their craft a little more seriously then I will prepare them for vocal examinations or auditions for drama school, musicals or anything else they might be interested in. My experience as a singer/actor is very broad and I have worked professionally not only in the UK but also in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong so I have a wide perspective when it comes to the performing arts. Most of all I believe in catering classes to suit the individual student as everyone has their own strengths and personal goals.
