About Kirstie
It’s so rewarding to see others achieve by passing on the passion to learn.
Tutoring is a passion I hold dear and I genuinely enjoy helping others overcome those internal ‘mountains’.
I’ve tutored many ages throughout my time, more recently, one of my students had difficulty with a Bioinformatics-based Dissertation; she’s just graduated and words can't describe how thrilled I was to be on that journey with her. It took a lot of patience on her end but we got there!
I've always enjoyed completing challenging work and like to pass this attitude on to my students. I remember passing my GCSE Maths a year early and getting an A, I was overjoyed! I relished topics such as Simultaneous Equations, Trigonometry, Geometry, Quadratic Equations, Linear Graphs- you name it! I'd like to pass this open-minded, enthusiastic approach onto my students and help them overcome their real fears towards their work and adapting explanations to make them comfortable with the topic.
Tutoring in Sixth Form gave me a good understanding of how children differ in abilities and understanding. I always took this with me and I still use this approach at work to make others learn at a pace that suits them. It was so rewarding to see how far my students had come. I was tutoring one boy in particular and was also his personal mentor to coach him with his problems at home/ esteem issues. Many teachers and his mother were worried about his ability to pass year 8, however he did pass every subject and did amazingly. He was like a brand new boy, ready to start prepping for his GCSEs!

My lessons are very interactive.
I enjoy using a range of resources to encourage growth and learning.
I often tailor this to what my student likes most-if they prefer fun worksheets or a game to demonstrate a concept, I’m happy to embed these into the session.
I want my students to be confident- to be able to ask any question, know that we all mistakes but to be sure in themselves on how to fix it!
My student can always come to me about anything bothering them that affects their learning or progress, regardless of what it is, we will navigate through it together.
