About Jaya

I have twelve years of ESL teaching experience: Australia (Adelaide, Darwin, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast, 2019–2026), and before this, five years overseas in Taiwan, Thailand, and the UAE - my students have been from kindergarten age through to elderly adults, taught in schools and private lessons — both online and in-person. I continue to teach privately via Zoom calls (webcam, online) to both international and local Australian students, helping them progress steadily or quickly depending on their dedication.

About the lesson

This is not a normal test — the Scorecard shows you what you are good at and what you can improve - like speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing, or preparing for IELTS.

MY METHODOLOGY: I teach English starting with a strong foundation in phonics* so students can read, write, and speak clearly. I love focusing on conversational practice and helping students develop strong, confident reading habits. I also provide targeted support to boost confidence for IELTS tests.

BACKGROUND: I hold a TESOL III qualification (to Canadian standards) and have twelve (12) years of international teaching experience in private and vocational colleges, as well as one-on-one online tutoring via Zoom. Most recently, I completed a two-year tenure teaching ESL at a large vocational college in Brisbane, all while continuing to tutor privately online from home.

It was an excellent way to learn more and better.

PRIVATE TUTORING: GENERAL ESL CLASSES
I have THREE more places available for a Monday, Tuesday or Sunday evening at 7.30pm - please register your interest
- 75-minutes for each class @ $60; or, $290 for five (5) classes; or $580 for ten classes - all materials supplied.

NB. LESSONS MUST BE KEPT CONSECUTIVE ONCE BOOKED - one lesson missed is counted as a lesson paid for - unless the student is proven to be in hospital (or 48-hours notice is given to me), with a 50% retainer fee required for cancellation - that is only fair as this is after all, my paid employment!
