About Anna
Hi, I’m Anya! I’m based in Scotland, and maths has been a genuine love of mine for as long as I can remember — not because it came easily, but because I’ve always needed to understand the why behind things, not just memorise the steps.
That curiosity took me through a degree in Business and Economics at Edinburgh, then several years working in audit and financial risk. Numbers have been part of my career for a while — but tutoring is where I get to focus on what I love most: watching a concept finally click for someone.
I believe maths is logical and genuinely beautiful once the fear is stripped away. My goal isn’t just the right answer — it’s real understanding, so the next problem feels a little less daunting.
I’m also bilingual in English and Russian.
Whatever level you’re at, I bring patience, curiosity, excitement and enthusiasm to every lesson.

I’ve loved maths for as long as I can remember — and I’ve never been someone who learns formulae by heart. I’ve always needed to understand why they work. That’s what I think is missing in most classrooms: too much focus on the final answer, not enough on what a student actually understands along the way.
To me, maths should be logical and exploratory. Every concept can be broken down, every part of a formula explained piece by piece. You shouldn’t have to memorise a method for one type of question, only to be lost the moment it’s phrased differently.
Once you understand the logic, it stops feeling like memorisation and starts feeling natural — that’s when maths gets fun, even addictive. That’s what I bring to every lesson, because I believe more students would love maths if it were taught this way.
