About Harry
I am a professional mathematics tutor with a Masters in Maths with Statistics from the University of Bristol. I have a wealth of experience teaching students across a range of ages and abilities and have trained and worked with some of the most exemplary educators in the UK including the Tutoress (London), Super Learner Club (Bristol) and Salesian School (Surrey.)
Testimonial from one of my previous students:
"Harry tutored our daughter for A-Level maths over a period of six months. Abigail was struggling with certain aspects of pure maths and desperately needed some support. Harry came for an hour a week and his passion and excitement about maths shone through at every lesson. He was able to quickly grasp what Abigail was struggling with and succeeded in explaining it to a level that suited her. With his expert tutoring Abigail improved rapidly and achieved an A, securing a place to do medicine at a Russel Group University. I cannot recommend Harry highly enough."

I believe in incorporating the most cutting edge ideas of maths education in my approach. I plan and tailor lessons uniquely to each student using my own personalised resources and problem sheets. Encouraging curiosity through engaging content and stimulating questions allows faster, more permanent and above all, joyful learning to take place so you can do the very best that you can!
My teaching is centred around a ‘problem solving’ approach that aims to build the student's ability to reason mathematically and foster a sense of curiosity and enjoyment. Before the first lesson I usually send an initial assessment for the student to complete to gauge their strengths and weaknesses in different areas. From there I then construct a plan with the student so we have a clear view of the lessons ahead and how we can best use our time effectively. I often let older students, who usually have a clearer sense of their abilities, to direct what topics they want to work on in each lesson.
When I'm not teaching I'm creating digital maths education content. I write and animate high quality YouTube videos, write a weekly blog and upload my own original resources to my website. I also research new ways of improving maths education, rethinking the way we structure the curriculum and incorporating non-western narratives and histories of mathematics.

I’ve been very observant of Harry’s progression as a teacher and there was some factors I admire. It seems that a teacher’s comfort is defined by the control of the classroom and the relationship with students. Harry had already adopted the ability to keep a class grounded as well as participate in activities in order to maintain the students’ undivided attention.
My personal favourite example was a Year 7 class learning about the different types of averages (not the most riveting topic upon initial impression). The tempo was high throughout and the general vibe was quite dynamic. This was through the introduction of a silly nursery rhyme that was quite helpful in remembering the key points whereby only 5 minutes of the lesson was dedicated to the activity. There were a few more minor intricacies that suggest Harry is comfortable in this environment as well efficient with timing.View more recommendations
