About Kelsa

Hi, I’m Kelsa! Your IELTS Strategy & Language Coach.

I am a Chinese-Canadian bilingual educator with over 7 years of tutoring and teaching experience, who currently works in corporate banking. I have several years of experience working directly with diverse learners in Toronto. Having gone through the Canadian immigration and education journey myself, I took the IELTS test shortly after arriving in Canada—so I know firsthand how intimidating the exam can feel.

As someone who has walked in your shoes, I understand why so many Chinese students get stuck at a Band 5.5 or 6—it isn't a lack of intelligence; it's rigid study habits, test anxiety, and a lack of real insight into what examiners actually want.

I believe learning should feel engaging and empowering, not like a chore. My goal isn't just to help you pass a test; it's to help you feel confident in your new life in Canada. Together, we’ll break down the barriers holding your score back and replace memorized templates with natural, high-scoring communication skills.

About the lesson

Targeted 1-on-1 Online IELTS Coaching (Available Across Canada) :

Preparing for IELTS Academic or General shouldn't mean endless practice tests with no feedback. My online sessions are structured around deep-dive analysis, strategy, and real-time correction so you make noticeable progress in every single lesson.

What We Cover in Our Sessions:

* Speaking: Overcome the fear of opening your mouth. We focus on natural flow, idiomatic expressions, topic development, and eliminating
mechanical "textbook" responses that lower your score.
* Writing (Task 1 & Task 2): Learn how to organize complex ideas, structure clear essays, and apply band-7+ vocabulary without sounding forced or repetitive.
* Reading & Listening: Master time-management strategies, learn to spot trick options, and build active keyword-scanning habits under real exam conditions.

Who My Lessons Are Built For:

- Immigrant & International Students: Struggling to reach the cutoff band (6.5/7.0+) for PR applications, university admissions, or professional licensing in Canada.
- Chinese Learners Tired of Traditional Rote Learning: 如果您厌倦了死记硬背那些无效的模板，我将和您一起帮助您培养考官认可的、真正实用的英语技能！让您的学习生活真正省心。
- Anyone Stuck on a Score Plateau: Break through the frustration of repeating the exam and target the exact weak spots holding you back.

What You Can Expect:

Bilingual explanation when needed. I will have my native Mandarin fluency combined with professional-level English, allowing me to explain subtle grammar rules, cultural contexts, or false friends seamlessly. Real-time corrections and detailed feedback on writing assignments and speaking sessions so you know exactly what to fix before test day. Also, flexible online courses, with personalized 1-on-1 coaching available across all Canadian time zones from the comfort of your home.

Ready to hit your target band? Drop me a message or book your first lesson today, and let’s unlock your pathway to success!

I accidentally spent one day with Kelsa in a park after both my and her plans didn't work out as planned. She surprised me with her calm nature, open-mindedness, curiosity, respectful and friendly behavior. She seems to be well in her flow no matter the situation! That's a good setup for helping people with just about anything! Give her a chance!
