About Candise
My passion for teaching stems from a lifelong curiosity and love of science, first sparked by school science fairs and later nurtured through a career in medical communications. Over 11 years, I developed educational materials, honed my ability to explain complex topics clearly, and mentored junior colleagues. Tutoring has reignited my desire to teach, as I witnessed students grow in confidence and understanding. I found deep fulfilment in adapting lessons to individual needs and celebrating their progress. As such, I will be embarking on a formal QTS and PGCE from next September. My academic background in health and immunology, combined with my communication skills and structured approach to learning, equips me to inspire students and foster critical thinking. Biology’s relevance to everyday life makes it a powerful tool for engagement, and I am eager to help students connect with the subject, build resilience, and realise their potential—just as my own teachers once helped me.

I have a Masters in Chronic Disease and Inflammation, a BSc in Physiology and Pharmacology, and A-level in Biology. I teach GCSE and A-level biology to students, and support their learning and preparation for upcoming exams. Each tutoring session is tailored to the needs of the student. We will work together to determine strengths and areas for improvement, and I will work in a format that suits the student. My lessons typically run for 1 hour but I am happy to adjust to the student's needs. After each lesson, I usually provide a worksheet to complete before the next lesson, covering exam style questions based on that lesson's topic. This helps to solidify the learning. At the beginning of the next lesson, we'll discuss anything which was particularly tricky or any areas which still need clarification, before moving on.
