About Imogen
Hi! I'm Imogen, a Ph.D. candidate at King's College London, specialising in the genetics of disease and new therapies. During the day, I work in the lab, doing cutting-edge research to try and figure out a new possible therapy for a rare and sometimes fatal disease. I've always loved sharing science, and have given talks to secondary and sixth form students, as well as doing biology mentoring at university level.
Previously, I achieved my 1st class Bachelor of Science in Developmental Biology (the science of how things grows) at the Uni of Manchester. I wanted to become a scientist, so then achieved a Masters of Research with Distinction in Biomedical and Translational Sciences (Biology research with a focus of medical uses). I'm excited to bring all that real-world knowledge and experience into our tutoring sessions to make biology accessible and interesting.

My biology tutoring sessions are aimed at students all the way up to triple-award GCSE to help improve biological understanding and preparing for exams. These are tailored to the needs of the student, whether that is support with homework, reviewing classroom material, or practicing exam questions. I use my extensive laboratory experience and expertise that I've gained from my current PhD studies to share real-world applications of the topics we will cover to make biology more interesting. I've previously mentored for a year for first-year undergraduate students and tutored at primary school level. My hope is to make biology easier to understand, more interesting, and to prepare students for biology GCSE exam questions.
Finally, exam time can be an incredibly stressful and anxiety-inducing time, so I emphasize supporting students and building confidence in their exam strategy.
