About Alex
I have two degrees that are quite uncharacteristic: A Biology-Education Bachelors Degree and a Masters of Science in Biological Sciences Education. Why, you may ask? I wanted to learn how to TEACH the life sciences, rather than simply learning about biology in a vacuum. I currently teach biology courses at a community college, but I have also taught similar courses in a 7th grade setting and a 10th-12th grade setting. Therefore, I am able to simplify concepts down to any level, while also diving into deeper concepts at the college level, all while making the content accessible for you.

I was one of those students who never understood the sciences until I had an incredible professor in college. Therefore, I base my teaching on applicability--always answering the question 'Why do I need to learn this?' first before getting into details about a concept. While teaching, I will often follow a 'Problem-based learning' style. I present a problem, and we'll solve it together by working through concepts in biology. These sessions are for anybody in some form of life science course (Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Cell Biology, etc.) who wants to connect concepts to real life situations, learn helpful tips and techniques to understand a variety of subjects, or simply has a topic they're struggling with that they need individualized help on. I am here to serve and help in whatever ways I can!
