About Anya
I studied biology, psychology and economics at A -level; receiving grades of A*’s. I deeply enjoy these subjects; and have given many private lessons to students, who have received GCSE grades from 7-9! I take pride and care when teaching, and only want the ultimate best for the student.

Personally, the most effective way I’ve found to teach, is breaking down each topic/ area slowly; so the student can see the logic behind it and can apply the knowledge they’ve learnt to any situation. This way, I know the student has fully understood the method/ facts they have learnt, and can readily apply this to real life situations.
For example, in biology; I have taught students about cardio- vascular diseases and the causes and symptoms. I know the student has fully absorbed the knowledge when they can repeat and apply this information to reality; meaning it has stored in their long term memory.
Once students have learnt the logic and methodology behind the knowledge; it’s easier for them to understand and then apply this to exam questions.
Another technique which is vital; is for students to understand the specification for the exam and exam techniques to score full marks. Learning the format for each question type; the student can then readily apply the knowledge they’ve learnt; and set out their question so it appeals to the examiner.
