About Janaina

Just like Havaianas, I am proudly Made in Brazil. I was born and raised there, surrounded by music, colours, flavours and the unique Brazilian spirit that I can’t wait to share with you. I recently moved to the UK to work as a data analyst, and while English is wonderful, nothing compares to the warmth, rhythm and charisma of Brazilian Portuguese. Through my lessons, I don’t just teach the language: I invite you on a journey across Brazil. With me, you will: Learn Portuguese in a natural, professional, fun and structured way; Discover the jeitinho brasileiro — our unique way of speaking, thinking and living; Explore Brazilian culture through music, books, films, art and even food; Read the great Brazilian authors, listen to our most iconic songs and understand the stories behind them. I teach with patience, enthusiasm and real-life materials from my own culture. Whether you’re a complete beginner or already speak some Portuguese, I will guide you step by step with confidence and care. Get ready to travel through Brazil from your chair from Rio’s pagode to the Amazon Acai, from traditional dishes to modern literature. I can’t wait to show you my country and help you fall in love with its language as much as I do. Now a quick riddle for you : I come from a Brazilian land where: – we drink chimarrão, grow coffee and endless fields of corn, – There's churrasco. pudim and pastel. - we actually have winter there! – you can find a little bit of Germany, Italy and Japan living side by side, – and I might not look like your samba, beach and coconut-water Brazilian stereotype. So… where am I from? I am from Paraná, fi!

About the lesson

I like to make my lessons professional, friendly, practical and personal. I don’t just teach grammar and vocabulary, I'll help students understand the soul of Brazilian culture through music, films, books, memes, everyday expressions, and even traditional recipes if they’re interested. Teaching Method & Techniques: I can adapt each lesson to the student’s goals, level and learning style. I balance speaking, listening, reading and writing using real-life materials: Brazilian songs, film clips, book passages and short dialogues. Culture is always part of the lesson, you learn not only the language, but how Brazilians think, feel and communicate. For those interested, I offer optional cultural sessions like Brazilian cooking lessons or exploring art and cinema. Lesson Duration Most lessons are 1 hour, but I also offer 1.5-hour lessons for deeper practice or cultural activities. Qualifications & Experience I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker, graduated in Business Management, deeply in love and proud of my country's culture. I have experience teaching Portuguese to both children and adults, including total beginners. My background in communication and storytelling helps me make learning fun, memorable and natural. Who My Lessons Are For All levels are welcome: complete beginners, intermediate learners and advanced speakers. Suitable for children, teenagers and adults. Perfect for people travelling to Brazil, living with Brazilian family or partners, doing business, or simply wanting to connect with the culture. Location Lessons can be at my home in Fulham, at your place, in a café, park or online.
